A message from the company founder and President, Larry Fingler

Thank-you for visiting the Fiber Connections website – we’re proud that we have a dedicated team who have earned the confidence of companies and organizations in many parts of the world to deliver exceptional passive and active fiber optics solutions. Our site contains continually updated technical product information and specifications, and we’d like to briefly describe the kind of company we are, how we got to where we are today, and what the future holds.

Following many years managing international infrastructure, defense and security projects and installation operations, we founded Fiber Connections in 1992. The challenge of a large scale/time-sensitive fiber optics connectivity implementation in Africa had been a fast learning curve, and it became evident that there was an opportunity for a dedicated provider of specialty terminated fiber optics cables and connectors, who could respond quickly to client expectations.

We set our standards high, and our founding core values of uncompromising quality, a passion for innovation, fast delivery response and a total commitment to customer and engineering service have stood the test of time, and will continue to guide the company as it grows further and explores more technology advances in the fiber optics field.

From the start, our goal was to establish the company as a leading expert in terminating fiber optics cables and polishing fiber optic connectors. The first engineering, R&D and manufacturing operations were located in Schomberg ON (north of Toronto), and it remains as the company’s Head Office and the focus of engineering and R&D development. All manufacturing resides in Canada to allow for coordinated quality assurance and quick turnaround, and has grown to include the main manufacturing facility in Summerside, PEI.

Our R&D and Engineering teams have built on our early successes with a steady flow of innovative passive products, including a pre-terminated rugged patch terminal (GatorPatch) with applications in the Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) sector. This was followed by our first active application, a pre-terminated patch terminal with media conversion (GatorLink™), which has become an integral part of our new Chameleon suite of products.

We are excited about the Chameleon products since it’s a very unique modular solution to network and quickly/securely deliver data, image, VOIP and POE in one cable. It accommodates different security levels with no crossover, and electronic cable identification, mapping and security monitoring – a truly major development and a first for fiber-to-the-workstation connectivity networks. The Chameleon system is being tested and has already been adopted in security and intelligence communities in several countries.

Our technology and IP set us apart, but we got there by listening to the needs of customers and distribution partners, and then developing solutions.
