MTP™ Connector

Fiber Connections has been an industry and technology leader at the forefront of fiber connectivity for the Telecom industry for over a decade. As a pioneer of MTP™ multi-fiber connector polishing techniques, they have been able to process a variety of fiber optic connectors. By responding to engineering challenges that the industry was faced with, Fiber Connections developed applications which utilize the MTP™/ MPO connector based on the creation of the OC-192 VSR interface.

Since the creation of OC-192 (10 Gb/s) VSR interfaces there has been a wide range of customers requiring such technology. To meet these demands the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) studied all the requirements and developed implementation agreements (IA).

In compliance with the IA, Fiber Connections was able to provide Optical Networking Companies with the fiber optic cable assemblies required for all their VSR needs. These include VSR-1, VSR-2, VSR-3, VSR-4, & the working VSR-5 implementation agreement.

Fiber Connections’ engineers can develop any multi-fiber optical connection using the MTP™ connector. The MTP™ complies with the following standards:

- IEC 61754-7 Fiber Optic Connector Interfaces—Part 7: Type MPO Connector Family
- EIA/TIA-604-5 "Fiber Optic Connector Intermateability Standard" (FOCIS 5)
- JIS C 5892 F13 Type Multi-fiber Optical Connectors
- HIPPI 6400-OPT (final stages of approval, MTP has been adopted)
