Ribbon
fiber
Ribbon fiber consists
of multiple fibers (usually 6, 8, or 12) bound together
in a flat ribbon. Fibers are colour-coded for
easy identification. Ribbon fiber may be either
single mode or multimode and may be contained within
a buffer tube. A single multi-fiber connector,
such as an MTP™, may terminate one ribbon fiber, or
the ribbon fiber could be fanned out into many single-fiber
connectors.
