Letter from the President
A message from the company founder and President, Larry Fingler
Welcome to Fiber Connections – a company that is proud of our dedicated team members who have earned
the confidence of companies and organizations in many parts of the world. That trust has been earned over
the years by delivering exceptional passive and active fiber optic solutions.
Following many years managing international infrastructure, defense and security projects and installation
operations, our founding team started Fiber Connections in 1994. That same team is still here, leading a larger
group of dedicated professionals. We started making single mode terminations and moved forward with an
opportunity to supply a large scale, time-sensitive fiber optic connectivity implementation in Africa. This project
had a fast learning curve, and it became evident that there was an opportunity for a dedicated provider of
specialty terminated fiber optic cables, who could also respond quickly to client expectations. That project,
which required us to design and build custom fiber connectivity solutions, was the beginning of the
Fiber Connections people know and trust today.
We have always set our standards high, and our founding core values of uncompromising quality, passion for
innovation, fast delivery and a total commitment to customer service have stood the test of time. We continue
to guide the company, keeping these values at the forefront, as it grows and explores more technology advances
in the fiber optics field.
From the start, our goal was to establish the company as a leading expert in terminating fiber optics cables and
polishing fiber optic connectors. The first Engineering, R&D and Manufacturing Operations were located in
Schomberg, ON (north of Toronto), and it remains as the company’s Head Office and the focus of Engineering
and R&D. All manufacturing is done in Canada to allow for coordinated quality assurance and quick turnaround,
and has grown to include the main manufacturing facility in Summerside, PEI.
Our R&D and Engineering teams have built on our early successes with a steady flow of innovative passive
products, including a pre-terminated, rugged patch terminal (GatorPatch™) with applications in the Intelligent
Traffic Systems (ITS) sector. This was followed by our first active application, a pre-terminated patch terminal
with media conversion (GatorLink™), which has become an integral part of our innovative Chameleon suite
of products.
We are all excited about the Chameleon line, since it is a unique, modular solution that will securely deliver
Ethernet data and power in one cable. It accommodates different security levels with no crossover, and
offers electronic cable identification, mapping and security monitoring – a major development and a first for
fiber-to-the-workstation connectivity networks. The Chameleon system was launched in 2010 and has been
adopted in security and intelligence communities in several countries and used in security camera, wireless
access and fiber to the workstation applications in several projects in the US and Canada.
Our technology and fiber optic knowledge may set us apart, but we got here by listening to the needs of
customers, and then developing the right solutions. We value input, feedback and opinions, so please use
